Our Heritage...
Southern Cinema draws experience
from a plethora of technology and
construction industries, but unlike
most "custom installation"
companies whose background is in
security or electrical, Southern
Cinema primarily has its roots in
Audio/ Video.
The owners of Southern Cinema come
from a long line of well known and
well respected authorities in the
industry. The source of this lineage
is Francis "Brock" Brachhold.
Brock was always very interested
in electronics and built his first
crystal radio set at the age of
twelve in 1921! He returned from
WWII and opened a small radio shop
in Daytona Beach Florida. He is
credited with owning one of, if
not the first, televisions in Florida;
the event captured by the local
paper.
His children and grandchildren continue
to pursue his passion. Don Russell
helped found the company in 1997
and serves as its CEO.
Don started in the industry at the
young age of 14 as an official "attic
crawler" for his family's company
Sound Ideas Stereo in Gainesville
Florida. Through college at the
University of Florida, Don served
as the company's Custom Installation
Manager. At the time of his amicable
departure in 1997, Don was only
25, but had already worked in the
industry for over a decade.
Don credits his success to the legacy
of his grandfather, Francis Brachhold
a.k.a. Granddad "B," and
the support and encouragement of
Grandma "B," who at the
age of 91 cooks a mean casserole
and still maintains her home in
Daytona Beach.
